Night-Bug Poetry

Night-Bug Poetry

Night-bug poetry is an ongoing project, a continuation of work begun in 2002. The inspiration has been unsettling dreams. No, not nightmares, not exactly. Night-bugs are major or minor details of that evanescent space called dream-world, images developed with additional layers of applied imagination in the ever present quest for visual resonance as meaningful consequence.

The style influence is largely from literature: Jorge Luis Borges, Juan Rulfo, and Gabriel Garcia-Marquez are writers influential to, or directly associated with, Magical Realism.

A Mile From Home

A Mile From Home

A Mile From Home is a collaborative effort between myself and the Birmingham, Alabama artist, Adrienne Applegate. The radius of one mile from Adrienne’s home is the epicenter, defining the active area of exploration. I wander and photograph within the defined area, sharing my effort with her on a weekly basis. Adrienne will then make selections and create interpretive paintings.

A Mile From Home was Adrienne’s suggestion. I take no credit for the idea, but I do enjoy the wandering, pushing into unknown territory: éxtasis fotográfica pura, and the ongoing conversation.
