Welcome to the Power of Media, Stephen Fiorella’s photography portfolio & editorial archive.

There are two current ongoing projects under the Photo Folio heading. The first project Night-Bug Journal, is an ongoing effort as visual poetry. Visit that page to read more about it.

The second project, A Mile From Home, is a new collaboration between the artist, painter/musician Adrienne Applegate and myself. A Mile From Home is now underway. Work from this project will soon see publishing activity. Please stay tuned for that event.

All other material is, in one form or another, an aspect of my editorial archive with images dating back to 1974. All negatives and color transparencies have been scanned as digital files as of 2001.

The essential ingredient here is camera work. Photoshop and the computer desktop allow for wholesale manipulation and virtual image fabrication — including digital color and workflow management, camera raw file conversion, masking, compositing and a variety of manipulative techniques adapted from traditional darkroom procedures. These essential skills do also include a high level of expertise in large scale, museum quality output utilizing wide-format inkjet printers. The current status of all prints, archive or current projects, is digital output. Therefore, the contemporary print is achieved by reworking the original negative in Adobe Photoshop as a scanned source, then printed with an Epson Stylus Pro 9600 inkjet printer using seven color pigment inks on Epson Premium Luster photo quality paper.

Significant changes from previous version of site:

  • The searchable Archive has been discontinued.
  • Many Archive elements have been removed to eliminate redundancy.
  • The Corporate portfolio has been discontinued.
